The Writers' Niche

Jan. 18th, 2008

01:47 pm - Re-visit of New Year's Resolutions

I started out with good intentions about keeping to an exercise schedule, but somehow that aggravated my tempermental back. I was of no use to anyone for the better part of a week. I will get back to that once the regime of meds fully takes over and quiets the arthritis.

[Hate the "Itis" brothers!]

I also need to find a soft covering for that hard stationary bicycle seat. Someone suggested that I might also check the tilt of the seat to make sure it doesn't put too much stress on my back. Anyway, I'm just going to have to drop to only one - 10-minute session a day to start, and then pay close attention to the signals my body gives me. I'd known I was headed for trouble if I'd just paid attention. But I thought surely, two 10-minute sessions a day and only going for knee mobility, not speed or strength training would work just fine. Obviously ... NOT!

That put me so far behind with computer work that I've been playing catch up for a week and still not caught up, which has left no time for writing. I'm so excited about my next novel-writing project that I have to discipline myself to get everything else caught up before I start. It'll be hard to ratchet down my enthusiasm and my writing time once I get started. I've been known to sneak out of bed during the night to get in a couple of hours writing time and no one else the wiser. I can be sneaky... [smile]
